Pendamodi is a traditional rural village...

...set in bucolic surroundings with spectacular mountain views

Nestling in the foothills of Crete's central mountain range, the little village of Pendamodi may only lie 15km south of Heraklion, but its sleepy atmosphere could not be further from the hustle and bustle of the busy island capital.

The surrounding landscape is reminiscent of Tuscany, with ancient olive groves and extensive vineyards covering gently rolling hills as far as the eye can see. Life in the local villages retains a slow, dignified pace and tourism is by no means the main focus - although those visitors who do venture here are warmly welcomed.

Pendamodi's main focal point is the traditional village kafenion, just a short stroll from the villas. Offering a selection of simple dishes for those occasions when you neither feel like cooking, nor driving, it also provides an opportunity to socialise with the locals. The village also boasts two mini-markets for basic provisions, and the nearest taverna is less than 5 minutes' walk away. A wider selection of shops and eating places can be found a short drive away in the neighbouring villages.
